Pearson Woodcarvers & Turners is a small family business based in Ludlow, Shropshire, run by Andrew and Tania Pearson. Andrew has been a woodcarver and turner since 1989, having trained at Wolverhampton School of Art. Tania trained at Falmouth and Bristol
and has been gilding and polishing since 1996, which she juggles with bringing up their two children.
Their carving commissions fall into three broad areas:
» Architectural Carving: fireplaces, staircases, panelling, decorative friezes and cornices, mouldings, barge boards and bressamer beams.
» Mirrors: a series of original hand-silvered Mirrors, reproduction English Mirrors and 15th Century Italian Convex Mirrors, (unavailable in retail outlets.)
» Figurework: crucifixes are a speciality, but figurework also features in small statues, bas reliefs and capitals for example.
Pearson Woodcarvers & Turners offer a fully committed and attentive service, working with the client through research, design, drawing, and creation of each piece.
The range includes their trademark giltwood mirrors, personalised for each client. Look again at their Chippendale or Baroque-inspired mirror in gold leaf: it may hide someone you recognise, or something that you would not expect, with a contemporary spin to repay close study!
